Hot Honey Pizza
This has had a pizza my HEART lately! It’s sweet, it’s spicy - it’s perfect. Trust me when I say, the ricotta cheese paired with the spicy hot honey is combination I never knew I needed. The great thing about homemade pizza is that you can make it exactly how you like it. Extra cheesy, more pepperoni, all the toppings you like! This Hot Honey Pizza has become a staple in our household. The sweet & spicy mix has us constantly going back for more! Enjoy!
Serves: 2-4
Cooking Method: Oven (or pizza oven if you have one!)
Ingredients:
Pizza dough (homemade or store bought)
1/3-2/3 Cup Marinara Sauce (I like Rao’s Marinara, or Rao’s Pizza Sauce)
1-2 Cup Mozzarella Cheese
Pepperoni (as much as you’d like!)
1 TSP Red Pepper Flakes
About 1/3 Cup Ricotta Cheese (separated)
Hot Honey
1 TBSP Butter
About 1/4 Cup Honey
1 TSP Red Pepper Flakes
1-2 TSP Sriracha Sauce
Dash of Cayenne Pepper
Instructions:
Roll out your pizza dough and place on a non stick pan, or pizza stone if you have one
Pro Tip: Roll out your dough over a thin layer of flour to prevent sticking
Top dough with marinara sauce
Top with mozzarella cheese
Top with pepperoni
Sprinkle with 1 TSP red pepper flakes
Cook for 15-20 minutes at 450 degrees (this will depend on how thick/large your dough is, and could require more or less time)
While pizza is cooking, prepare your Hot Honey
Melt butter in a small sauce pan
Add in the honey, sriracha, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper
Simmer on low and stir until combined
When pizza is done - use a small spoon to dollop the ricotta cheese all over the pizza
Finally, drizzle the hot honey all over pizza, and enjoy!
Reminder: Measurements are just a suggestion! Fire it up with more red pepper flakes, or by using a spicy pepperoni. Have it a little sweeter by adding a drizzle of plain honey. Much love and happy cooking.
